History: "All I am is what I am. I lived seven lives at once. I was power and the ecstasy of death. I was god to a god. Now... I—I'm trapped..."
Loved. Feared. Illyria was one of the first demons, pure in both blood and destruction. She has ruled so many dimensions, plagued so many more, and now, she is stuck inside the shell that was once the beloved body of Winifred Burkle.
Her return was predestined, set in motion thousands of years ago by her own acolytes, who she still has some of to this very day. The consecutive events were indistinguishable. That is, until her second coming had come to pass.
So many, both minor and major, were involved; Howard Knox, the one who had arranged for her sarcophagus to appear at W&H in the first place. Charles Gunn, who signed the customs release form in order to get another Law Implant. Even Angel and Spike took hand in it, by letting Fred be hollowed out during Illyria's inevitable return. You could even say that those responsible for sending, and bringing Fred back from Pylea had major involvement.
After Winifred's organs were liquefied, Illyria's stage was set. The first thing she tried to do upon her return was reclaim her world. Little did she know that there was nothing for her to reclaim. The world she knew had been reduced to dust and ash.
That revelation obliterated her entire purpose. She had no means to bestow the havoc she wished. She didn't even have the will. What was she to do? Where was she to go? Her answer resided in Wesley Wyndham Price.
Her resemblance of Fred is what won him over. He had agreed to help her live in his world, at the cost of being as civil as a destruction-bred demon could be. That was the deal, and it turned out to be much harder than she liked.
After a while, and after the reducing and/or removal of her powers, she began to adjust. She even grew accustomed to the people she coincided with. All of it was necessary for her unintentional grooming for what looked like the final "good fight" Angel and his team would have.
For reason, for Wesley, she joined them in their struggle, all to not fade away.
